FAQs

Why eat organic produce?

Organic produce is grown without harsh chemicals, tastes better, and has more vitamins and nutrients than conventionally grown produce. If that’s not enough, it’s also good for the environment because farming practices such as crop rotation and the absence of chemicals help keep farmlands healthy.

When can I start feeding my baby Dixie Fresh?

Always consult your doctor before starting solids and feeding new foods to your baby, as you and your pediatrician know your baby best. Generally as babies start to sit unassisted and become interested in food they could be ready to start their adventure into solid foods.

How is your food different from the stuff in the grocery store?

Dixie Fresh baby food is made from fresh organic ingredients and frozen immediately to preserve all the nutrients. When you buy Dixie Fresh food pouches you are supporting local small business and local farmers! Most commercially available pouches are either heat processed (which destroys many of the valuable nutrients) or high pressure processed. We believe in eating food that is minimally processed, which is why our foods are made fresh and frozen without any added preservatives or pasteurization.

How long will the food last?

Our fresh baby food will last in the freezer up to 6 months (or more if stored properly), or in the fridge for a few days. We recommend keeping them frozen until ready to use. Then just thaw under refrigeration.

Why don't you sell baby food in pouches?

Feeding from a spoon promotes the healthy development of feeding skills and the social interaction that comes with meal time is great for growing littles. However, you can easily take our purees on the go with a reusable pouch!
